ACCOMMODATION FOR PROFESSORS/RESEARCHERS AND VISITING PHD STUDENTS

The Politecnico di Milano offers to visiting professors and visiting researchers (= both faculty members in visit), research fellows and visiting PhD students in relation with the university, the opportunity to live in its Halls of Residence, offering single rooms or small apartments (for one person or for couples), depending on availability:

“Galileo Galilei” Hall of Residence, Via F. Corridoni, 22 – Milan | single rooms with private bathroom

“Einstein” Hall of Residence, Via Einstein, 6 – Milan | one-person studio apartments

“Pareto” Hall of Residence, Via Maggianico, 6 – Milan | one-person studio apartments

“La Presentazione” Hall of Residence, Via Zezio, 58 – Como | mini-apartments for individuals/couples

“Loos” Hall of Residence, Via A. Ghislanzoni, 24 – Lecco | mini-apartments for individuals/couples

Duration and rents:

Accommodations can be booked at the rates listed for a minimum of 1 month and up to the end of the month of July of each academic year, at the latest.

Reservations can start on the 1^st or on the 16^th of the month and end on the 15^th or at the end of the month.  

Check-in are possible starting from 2:00 PM on the first day of the reservation, including weekends and holidays, upon prior notification to the residence director.

Check out must be held by 10:00 AM the morning after the last night of the reservation, with prior appointment with the residence management.

Rents are valid for the stays held within July of the ongoing AY and they are subject to the annual ISTAT adjustment.

Any request of extension or shortening of the reservation period with early check-out (keeping the end of the reservation on 15^th or at the end of the month), must be sent via ticket according to the timing and provisions described in the General Terms and Conditions; these also contain all the instructions needed for guests to properly manage their booking.

Please note:

Extending a reservation is never guaranteed as it is subject to availability.

It is possible to ask for a reservation shortening exclusively if the length of the reservation to be shortened is more than 1 month. Instalments paid are not refundable.

Including any and all extensions in the current AY and renewals of the guest’s stay in the following AY (the latter being subject to new Conditions and rates), it is possible to be hosted for maximum 12 months, starting from the start date of the original booking, provided the guest has ongoing activities at the University and space is available.

Reservation process:

– Register on the Politecnico di Milano online services (www.polimi.it/servizi-online), if not enrolled yet. All the fields must be filled in (including the ones related to the address) and the ID document must be uploaded.

– At least 20 days in advance, contact the Housing & Dining Unit via ticket (www.residenze.polimi.it/en/contatti-2/) as registered user so to check the availabilities. Include the invitation letter, qualification/profile, host Department, start/end reservation dates.

– Accept and Pay: Once allowed, accept immediately the offered accommodation by logging in https://polimi-sol.dirittoallostudio.it/apps/V3.1/sol/public/index.php and pay, in 24h, the 1^st non-refundable monthly instalment and the security deposit (€500.00, if due); in a few days the payment will be displayed on the portal, then the accommodation will be assigned and the check-in will be possible.

– Confirm the Check-in: At least 7 days before the start date of the reservation, notify to the residence direction your expected arrival date/time.

The confirmation of the reservation implies the acceptance of the General Conditions, of the Charter of the services of the residence and of the Regulations in force.

Please note: the online proposal of accommodation has a limited validity.

Payments

Payment of the first monthly installment and of the security deposit is due during the booking process.

Payments after the first installment, if due, are due in advance, required monthly and must be made by the 15^th of the month for the following month.

Each installment following the first, where applicable, should be paid in the month in which it is due (for example, between 01/10 and 15/10, pay for the stay in NOVEMBER).

Please note: Rents paid are non-refundable and they cannot be attributed to periods or accommodations other than those agreed upon.
