For the academic year 2026/2027, accommodation places are reserved for PhD students of the 42nd cycle.
PhD students from previous cycles who are already living in the Halls of Residence may reconfirm their accommodation, provided they are still within the standard duration of their PhD programme.
Accommodation is available in the following Halls of Residence: of single rooms within shared apartments in the following residences:
Marie Curie (single rooms within apartments shared with 2 or 3 PhD students)
Einstein (single rooms within apartments shared with 3 or 4 PhD students)
Pareto (single rooms within apartments shared with 3 or 4 PhD students)
La Presentazione (double rooms for single use). During the month of August, this Hall of Residence will be closed, and PhD students will be required to temporarily move to a Politecnico Hall of Residence in Milan until La Presentazione reopens on 25th August 2026.
Apartments are mixed-gender (M/F) and are automatically assigned by the system.
Each PhD student may reserve one accommodation place only.
Reservations are annual, with priority renewal guaranteed for the following two years of the standard PhD programme.
Before proceeding with the reservation, applicants are advised to check the campus where the PhD teaching activities will take place.
Thanks to the support of the “Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi” Foundation, new PhD students of the 42nd cycle may book accommodation in Halls of residence managed by Politecnico di Milano at a reduced rate, valid for all three years of the PhD programme.

Reservations for the 2026/2027 academic year are exclusively reserved for:
– PhD students enrolled in the 42nd cycle;
– PhD students from previous cycles already living in residence, who wish to renew their accommodation for one additional year and who have not yet completed their PhD programme.
– During the periods indicated below, it will be possible to access the Politecnico di Milano Online Services Portal using Politecnico credentials (if credentials are not available, registration is required).
– Select the residence and room type, subject to availability.
– Save the reservation.
– Complete payment within 24 hours via PagoPA of the first instalment and the non-interest-bearing security deposit of €500 (if not previously paid).
The reservation will be confirmed within 48 hours of payment.
Phase 1 –Students from Previous cycles already residing in our Halls of residence (annual renewal)

Phase 2 – 42nd cycle (successful applicants with course start date 11/09/2026)
Opening: 27/07/2026 at 12:00
Closing: 04/09/2026 at 23:59
Check-in will be possible from 14/09/2026, regardless of the course start date.

Check-in will be possible from 02/11/2026, regardless of the course start date.

Payment is made exclusively in 12 monthly instalments paid in advance.
At the time of reservation, payment of the first instalment and the non-interest-bearing security deposit of €500 is required, if not already paid.
The accommodation fee accrues from the reservation date, regardless of the actual check-in date.
– In the event of non-enrolment, amounts paid will not be refunded, except for the security deposit, which will be returned with a €100 deduction.
– In the event of enrolment but failure to obtain an entry visa, instalment payments remain due in full.
Instalments are issued on the 1st day of the previous month and must be paid by the 15th of the same month.
Example:
The instalment for November 2026 will be issued on 1 October 2026 and must be paid by 15 October 2026.
Failure to pay by the deadline will result in revocation of the accommodation by the last day of the paid month and forfeiture of the security deposit as a penalty.
Example:
If the November 2026 instalment is not paid by 15 October 2026, the guest must vacate the accommodation by 31 October 2026 and the security deposit will be retained.
If the assignment ends by the 15th of the month (last night), half of the monthly fee will be charged.
Example:
If the assignment ends on 10th January 2027, half of the January fee will be charged.
If the assignment ends in the second half of the month (from the 16th onward), the full monthly fee will be charged.
Example:
If the assignment ends on 20 January 2027, the full January fee will be charged.
If a PhD student has already made a reservation and paid the first instalment and the security deposit and wishes to cancel before check-in, notice must be given at least 7 days before the agreed check-in date.
In this case, the first instalment will be retained as a penalty, while the security deposit will be refunded, less €100 for administrative costs.
Once check-in has taken place, the accommodation may be cancelled by providing at least two months’ notice prior to the check-out date.
Example:
If the guest intends to leave the residence on 20 January 2027, notice must be given by 20 November 2026.
Failure to comply with the notice period will result in a charge of two monthly instalments.
If cancellation is communicated within the required timeframe, the PhD student will be charged only for the actual period of residence, according to the following criteria:
– stay up to the 15th of the month (last night): half of the monthly fee
Example:
If the guest leaves the residence on 5 January 2027, half of the January fee will be charged.
– stay from the 16th until the end of the month: full monthly fee
Example:
If the guest leaves the residence on 20 January 2027, the full January fee will be charged.
To submit a cancellation request, it is necessary to:
– open a ticket entitled “CANCELLATION” (here), and
– simultaneously send an e-mail to phd-events@polimi.it.
Notifications sent through channels other than those indicated will not be considered valid.
Please note that the official cancellation notice must precede any subsequent communication with the residence director to arrange check-out procedures.
